Full Description

A 2 storey barn, located at the north-western corner of the crew yard at Towngate House Farm. It is built out of coursed limestone, with a hipped roof that extends to the south to cover a passage between the barn and the threshing barn. At the time of recording, this extended section of the roof had been badly damaged by fire, and only the rafters remained. The surviving roof has Collyweston slates on the north and the east sides, and corrugated iron sheeting on the west. The southern elevation has a door on the ground floor and a pitching hole on the 1st floor. The eastern elevation also has a 1st floor pitching hole, and the nothern elevation has a blocked doorway on the ground floor. Thw western elevation has a square opening with a planked wooden door on the ground floor, and a single doorway on the 1st floor, which would have been accessed by an external staircase, which has been removed. The barn was recorded in January 2009, prior to its conversion to a residential dwelling. {1}{2}
