Full Description

The former earth closet within the grounds of Tattershall Castle was the subject of a programme of historical building recording, conducted in October 2015, in advance of proposed stabilisation and conservation works. The structure is a small, single-storey building, built of red brick laid in a modified Flemish bond, and features a pitched pantile roof. It was built by Lord Curzon in 1914 to provide toilet facilities to the public visitors of the newly opened castle. Its principal elevation faces west, towards the castle and inner moat, and features a series of ventilation holes, set into a decorative diamond pattern. {1}{2}
