Full Description

Watching brief by SLAU on Anglian Water Authority pipeline. Medieval pottery including Stamford ware found. {1} Also found was Bourne and Toynton ware. {2} This assemblage could possibly be due to manuring. {3} During investigations on land adjacent to Rainwalls Lane and Post Office Lane, medieval pottery was recovered dating to the 13th century and later. On the land adjacent to Post Office Lane, several features were encountered. Some of these have been identified as field drainage ditches and dykes. Other features include several linear slots, which may define the location of a timber structure. {4}{5}{6}
