Full Description

Friskney war memorial stands in the north-east corner of All Saint's churchyard. Unveiled in 1921, it holds the names of the First World War and Second World War dead. The memorial is a seventeen and a half feet (five metres) tall, octagonal shaft, surmounted by a Latin cross. The base is formed of four steps. {1} The memorial, in the Gothic style, was unveiled on 20 March 1921. It is a 5.3m tall cross built in a white stone. The cross has a four-stepped octagonal base with a small octagonal pedestal. The tapering cross shaft supports a foliated cross head. Behind the memorial there are three low walls with brick plinths and stone blind arcades, within which are carved the names, place of death and dates of those from the parish who died. The curved wall immediately behind the memorial was erected with the memorial. The two flanking walls were added after the Second World War bearing the names of those who had died in that conflict.
