Full Description

19th century school building. Cross-wing C-shape plan form red brick construction in English Garden Wall Bond, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. Blue brick bands. Three pointed arch windows on gables. Large, squat, lateral stacks on the corners of each cross-wing. {1} Built as the Marshchapel National School in 1838, possibly on a different site, to serve both Marshchapel and North Cotes. The school was rebuilt in 1872 on the site it currently occupies. {2}{3} The building is shown in its current plan form on the 1887, 1906, and 1951 OS maps. {4}{5}{6}
