Full Description

Several adjacent areas of medieval ridge and furrow, visible as blocks of parallel linear earthworks to the north of Scothern. They were identified on aerial photographs taken of this area, examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} A redeposited handle from a medieval jug was recovered from a topsoil deposit in this area in August 2015, during trial trenching on land to the north of Weir Farm Paddock, Scothern. The handle was made from a local fabric of late 13th to 15th century date. {2}{3}
