Full Description

A probable Second World War pillbox is depicted in this location on the Ordinance Survey Land-Line digital map. The probable pillbox is discernible as a small concrete structure on an aerial photograph taken of this area in 1972. Its depiction on the OS map suggests that it is of the hexagonal, type 22 form of pillbox, with a probable blast wall protecting its south-eastern entrance. It forms the westernmost of a pair of probable pillbox structures at the northern end of Orford Plantations, defending the eastern approach to RAF Binbrook (see PRN 58143). {1}{2}
