Full Description

A post mill, marked as Bilsby Mill, is depicted on the Ordnance Surveyor's drawing dated 1819 at the western edge of the parish. {1} This mill was in the ownership of John Pinney between 1786 and 1820. {2} In White's 1856 Directory, Robert Pinney is noted as a miller and baker in Bilsby, one of two millers and bakers listed. The Pinney family may have continued to use the post mill even though they owned the tower mill in Bilsby village (see PRN41488). They sold the tower mill to Thomas Flintoft in 1855. {2}{3} The mill is no longer marked on the first edition OS map surveyed in 1887, although an adjacent property called Mill House is marked. It seems likely that the mill probably disappeared in the 1860s or the 1870s. {4}
