Full Description

The remains of two ditches were recorded in this location in September 2016, during archaeological monitoring of new development on land at the Moncks Arms, Caenby Corner. Single fragments of late 17th to mid 18th century clay tobacco pipe were recovered from both of the features. The alignment of the ditches appeared to match that of boundary features depicted in this area on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey map of 1886, that separated a small and field and orchard from the former inn to the north. {1}{2}
