Full Description

The southern range of outbuildings at White House Farm was included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in January 2017 to inform their proposed conversion to housing. All parts of the range are built of red brick, mostly laid in an English Garden Wall bond, and there are pitched roofs of red clay pantiles. There are several brick and concrete floors within the structure, and many of the internal walls shows traces of having been whitewashed. The earliest part of the building is a two-storey former barn, which forms the eastern part of the range. This structure likely dates from the early to mid 19th century, although some more recent alterations have been conducted, including the blocking or replacement of many of the original window and door openings. Attached to the western side of this structure is a single-storey probable former stable block. This part of the range does not appear on historic mapping of this area until the early 20th century, which may suggest there was a re-modelling of the farm complex at this time. {1}{2}
