Full Description

The northern range of outbuildings at White House Farm was included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in January 2017 to inform their proposed conversion to housing. The building likely dates from the early to mid 19th century, although some more recent alterations have been conducted, including the insertion of a large double door at the eastern gable, and the addition of a concrete walkway to the southern elevation. The whole range is single-storey and is built of brick, largely laid in an English Garden Wall bond, and features a pitched roof of red clay pantiles. There are several brick floors within the structure, and many of the internal walls shows traces of having been whitewashed. There are also the remains of several timber stalls and troughs within some of the rooms, which would suggest that the building originally functioned as a cow house, providing shelter for the farm's cattle stock. {1}{2}
