Full Description

Thornbury Hall, Crowland. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {1} The farmhouse was abandoned at some time prior to 1962, and demolished between 1966 and 1970. Two farmworker's cottages at the west end of Whipchicken Road associated with the farm were demolished in the late 1970s. {2} As of October 2024, only three outbuildings on the site remain roofed, though it is unclear if the original 19th century buildings are still in use. The rest of the courtyard complex appears in a ruinous condition. {3}
