Full Description

Dundalk Farm, Roxholm. Demolished 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with L-plan range plus detached buildings to the third side of the yard. The farmhouse was detached from the main working complex. Isolated location. {1} Sale particulars were drawn up in 1968 for the proposed auction of Dundalk Farm. The farmhouse was described as being of two storeys, substantially built of stone with brick quoins and featuring a slate roof. The farm buildings were described as being chiefly stone built with tiled roofs, and comprised a loose box and 3-bay shed on the west, a stable, store and barn on the north, and two loose boxes, a cowhouse and a cast iron and timber 4-bay implement shed on the east, all surrounding a central crewyard. {2} The farm buildings are no longer extant. Historic mapping of this area would indicate that partial demolition of the site began shortly after the farm was sold in 1968, with the farmhouse and some of the crewyard buildings being cleared first. The remaining farmbuildings survived for some years after this, but appear to have been cleared in about 2000. {3}
