Full Description

Church Farm, Legsby. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached with the long axis facing on to the yard. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a hamlet. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {1} A programme of historic building recording was undertaken on the buildings at Church Farm prior to their proposed demolition. The main farmhouse was of timber framed construction and dated to the 17th century with many mid 20th century alterations and additions. It appeared that the detached outbuilding was the only surviving element of the three sided range seen in map regression, and the brickwork suggested that this outbuilding and the main farmhouse were broadly contemporaneous. {2}{3}
