Full Description

Manor Farm, West Rasen. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {1} The farm is thought to have been in existence by 1842, when Thomas Cowlam was listed in White's commercial directory as a farmer and miller in West Rasen. In the 1892 edition of White's directory, Henry Loweth is listed as 'farmer, miller and assistant overseer', suggesting a connection to the West Rasen estate. The 1910 Land Tax valuation book lists three entries for Manor Farm: the house and buildings, land (96 acres) and water mill. The list of agricultural buildings in the entry include: a barn, a possible hen house, a pig sty, several loose boxes, cow sheds and a possible cart shed. {2}{3}
