Full Description

Maidenwell House, Maidenwell. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Loose courtyard with L-plan range plus detached buildings to the third side of the yard. Prominent smaller secondary yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {1} A site visit and laser survey were undertaken on Maidenwell House, prior to its proposed demolition. Descriptions were made of the internal rooms, as well as the outbuildings and yard features, which included a cart shed, stables, workshops, a coach house, a tack room, and a kennel. The house was constructed in 1903 as a home for the tenants of the large estate to serve a working farm. {2}{3}
