Full Description

Former school. One/two storey red brick building in Flemish Bond, with red and light brick headers, under a pitched gabled slate roof. A datestone on the front gable reads ‘1874’. Windows are modern replacement uPVC casements. {1} There is no mention of a school in the parish in either of White's 1856 or 1872 Trade Directories of Lincolnshire. {2}{3} The school is present on the 1887, 1906 and 1956 OS maps of Newton by Toft, suggesting that the school was operational in the 1950s, but by 1972 it had been converted to private residences. {4}{5}{6}
