Records of the school held in the Lincolnshire Archives suggest that it was built in 1879. It is unclear whether any of the original building still remains on the site. {1}{2}{3} Russell cites that Scotter and Scotton schools received a £100 grant for school building in 1833, another £100 in 1847 (this one was most likely used for Scotter school, see MLI116454), and a further £26 offered in 1855. {4} White's 1856 Directory of Lincolnshire does not mention a school, but it does mention a schoolmistress, an Ann Jacklin. {5} The building has the same flattened T-plan on both the 1887 and the 1906 Ordnance Survey maps of Scotton. {6}{7} Records in the Lincolnshire Archives suggest that, from 1903, the school was known as Scotton Council School. The school was closed on 29 July 1932, with the children transferred to the new Scotter Council School as part of a general reorganisation of education in the area. {8}
