Full Description

Range of mid 19th century outbuildings, to the north of the former Castle Inn. Large parts of the range were included in a programme of historic building survey, conducted in November 2015 to inform its proposed conversion to residential use. The range is comprised of a central, two-storey former cart shed with hayloft over, with single-storey cart shelters to both east and west. All of the range was constructed of red brick, laid in 3-course Flemish Garden Wall bond, and featured pitched roofs of slate, although this was missing to the easternmost part at the time of survey. The buildings were very likely constructed at the same time as the adjacent former Castle Inn (see PRN 56762), forming part of the original smallholding, before being put to use as part of the public house soon after. {1}{2}
