Full Description

The remains of two large quarry pits were recorded in this location in July 2015, during archaeological monitoring of new residential development on land at Albert Street. No artefacts were recovered from either feature, which remain undated, although it was noted that the pits were cut by the foundations of a small brick structure. This structure is depicted on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map, and likely dates to the later half of the 19th century, indicating that the pits have at least some antiquity. {1}{2}
