Full Description

A small assemblage of medieval and early post-medieval artefacts was recovered from this location in April 2014, during a systematic metal detecting survey conducted to inform the proposed construction of a new solar farm. The assemblage comprised a variety of small metal artefacts, including a 14th century horse harness pendant, a worn jetton of probable French origin, dating to the 15th to 17th centuries, and a late 17th to early 18th century buckle with stud chape. Despite being recovered from part of the site of the Battle of Winceby, none of the artefacts could be confidently associated with the action, and no spatial concentration of finds could be detected. {1}{2}
