Full Description

A small assemblage of redeposited Roman artefacts were found in this location in September 2014, during archaeological monitoring on land at Waddingham Grange Farm. The assemblage comprised 2 pieces of probable Roman tegula, and 15 sherds of Roman pottery, including pieces from a trimmed samian base, a Mancetter-Hartshill mortarium with flanged rim, a native tradition bowl in a grog-tempered fabric and several pieces of greyware. A highly fragmentary piece of fired clay, probably the remains of a further sherd of Roman pottery, was also recovered. {1}{2}
