Full Description
A former agricultural building at Low Road was the subject of a programme of historic building recording, conducted in January 2016, to inform its proposed conversion to use as holiday lets. The building is a former brick-built combination cattle shelter and granary, thought to date to the 1880s. It is of two-storeys, with cattle stalls to the central part of the ground floor and access to the 1st floor hay loft and grain store being by ladder from the south-easternmost room. The building is constructed of red brick, laid in English Garden Bond, and features a pitched roof of clay pantiles. The internal floors are of concrete, some parts of which were patterned to resemble quarry tiles. Evidence of now demolished structures adjoining both the north-western and south-eastern gables were recorded as former roof-lines. The doors and windows were of wood throughout. A mechanical chaff cutting machine was located on the ground floor of the western room. {1}
