Full Description

A square nail of unknown date was found by a local resident on the playing field site off Julian Bower, Louth. {1} From a garden adjacent to the playing field to the north some finds have been made suggestive of iron working. These include pieces of clinker, par-burnt coal, iron nails, some vesicular fayalite hearth slag with fired sandy clay and burnt sandstone and fragments of slagged sandy clay hearth lining. In addition, from the playing field, a very abraded fragment of a thin walled long bone possibly animal or human. {2} Several square nails of unknown date have also been found on the site. {3}
