Full Description

The remains of a medieval ditch was recorded in this location in August 2015, during archaeological monitoring of new development. The ditch was aligned on a north-east to south-west axis, running parallel to, and some 12m south of the adjacent Church Street. Two sherds of 12th to 13th century pottery were recovered from the ditch's fill. One of the sherds was of a locally produced South Lincolnshire fabric, whilst the other was of Stanion-Lyveden ware, produced in north Northamptonshire. Both sherds were sooted, showing evidence of use over a hearth or fire. {1}{2}
