Full Description

Two probable pits or linear features of unknown date and function were recorded in November 1997, during the archaeological monitoring of development on land at The Giles School, Old Leake. {1}{2} A further linear feature was identified in this area in January 2000, during archaeological monitoring of additional extensions to the Giles School. The exact nature of the feature could not be confirmed, though it was thought to represent the remains of a natural channel or a severely eroded drainage ditch. The feature was sealed by a post-medieval subsoil, from which a fragment of clay pipe stem was recovered (see PRN 13829). {3}{4}
