Full Description
The lych gate at Alford cemetery was the subject of historical research in 2014, when an assessment of its significance was produced to inform the proposed conversion of the adjacent chapel to housing. The lych gate was constructed in c.1888 and is built in the Victorian Gothic style of red/orange brick with timber supports and a Welsh slate roof. The lych gate links the adjacent cemetery chapel (PRN 49181) to the keeper's cottage (PRN 49182), forming an asymmetrical composition typical of the work of James Fowler. {1}
