Full Description
The keeper's lodge at Alford cemetery was the subject of historical research in 2014, when an assessment of its significance was produced to inform the proposed conversion of the adjacent chapel to housing. The keeper's lodge was constructed in c.1888 and is built in the Victorian Gothic style of red/orange brick with stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The lodge is linked to the adjacent cemetery chapel (PRN 49181) by a lych gate (PRN 49183), forming an asymmetrical composition typical of the work of James Fowler. The lodge has been is use as a private dwelling since at least 1987. {1}
