Full Description

Two linear magnetic anomalies were identified in this area in January 2015, during magnetometry survey on land off Larch Avenue, Nettleham. The features were thought to represent former field boundaries, aligned on a roughly south-west to north-east axis. This alignment does not quite match that of the surrounding medieval ridge and furrow, suggesting that the boundaries formed part of an earlier field system, although their exact date remains unknown. A small number of isolated magnetic anomalies were also identified in this area. These were tentatively interpreted as pit-like features of unknown date, although the weakness of the responses makes any definite identification difficult. {1}{2}
