Full Description

Three post-medieval farm buildings, known collectively as 'The Barns', were the subject of a photographic survey, conducted in 2005. The structures comprise a former cart shed and stable block dating to the 18th century and a 19th century red brick barn. The stable block is a stone-built, single-storey structure with a pantile roof. A date stone inscribed '1875' is incorporated into one of the stable block walls, though this appears to be a later insert, used to repair a breach in the wall. {1} The Barns, Bishop Norton. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of L plan. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. {2}
