Full Description

A small unstratified assemblage of Roman pottery was found by the County Archaeologist in 1997, during work at Trusthorpe Nursing Home. The 18 sherds mostly dated to the later 3rd to 4th centuries. There were a few sherds of Samian which may be a century earlier. From a functional point of view the pottery is from cooking activity while the fine Samian ware pieces may have survived as heirlooms. {1}{2}
