Full Description

A post-medieval road surface was revealed in October 2006, during an evaluation conducted to inform proposed residential development on land to the west of 93 Nettleham Road, Lincoln. Initially thought to be of Roman date, the road is of simple construction, without camber or flanking ditches, and does not conform to the more typical Roman design. A large quantity of post-medieval artefacts were recovered from the surface of the road, which was heavily rutted and was thought to represent a temporary surface, used to access this area during the 18th century. {1}{2}
