Full Description

The site of a windmill marked on the 1888 and the 1905 Ordnance Survey maps. {1}{2} A post mill was moved to Belchford in 1828, or a little before, from Fulletby the adjacent village to the south (see PRN49118). It had two pairs of stones, one pair French and other grey stones. It is referenced as for sale in the Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury in April 1845 and to let in March 1850. A four-sailed tower mill in Belchford was dismantled and felled by Thompson's of Alford in about 1923 having stood derelict for a few years. It was a four storied brick tower with an ogee cap. It had been overhauled in 1910. This is the mill marked on the Ordnance Survey maps and the post mill was probably on the same site. This source provides a list of known millers. {3}
