Full Description

Barn, stables, waggon hovels and stores, constructed in 17th century. Altered and extended in 1792 and with 19th century alterations. Built with timber frames, coursed limestone rubble underbuilding and red brick, with some ashlar quoins. The buildings have a U-shaped plan form and feature pantile roofs. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} A historic building survey was undertaken in 2019 to inform the proposed conversion of the barns to a commercial architect's office. It was determined that the building previously identified as a waggon hovel was too small for that purpose and was likely rather a shelter shed for animals. A granary was also identified in the first floor space above the stables. {2}{3}
