Full Description

A 19th century milestone is located adjacent to the driveway to 236 Grantham Road. It is of cast iron and appears to have been fairly recently re-painted white. It is inscribed 'QUARRINGTON PARISH' in the top panel, with 'GRANTHAM 13' in the gable panel, and 'SLEAF.D 1' and 'ANCAS.R 5' in the respective side panels. {1}{2} The milestone is shown on the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey County Series map, although it is depicted a little distance away, and on the other side of the road, suggesting that it has been moved slightly from its original position at some point. {3}
