Full Description

Church in Southrey, dedicated to St John the Divine. The church appears on Google Street View photography as a small rectangular structure with a tile roof and a small bell-tower at the western gable. The building appearsto have been clad with white plastic panelling, and is entered by a doorway in the western gable, over which a small porch has been erected. {1}{2} Pevsner states that the church is 'built of wood by the parishioners in 1898, and like the church of an outpost of the Commonwealth. Painted white, with a west porch, a sweet little bell-turret and on its top a big weathercock. The church is built on a stone plinth incorporating grave-covers said to be from Bardney Abbey'. {3}
