Description
A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the construction of new chalet bungalows and an associated service on land to the rear of the Red Lion Public House, Middle Street, Dunston. The monitoring identified a spread of demolition debris, thought to clearly relate to a previous late post-medieval building that had formerly occupied the site, but no archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered. {1}{2}
