Description

Excavation were conducted after late prehistoric artefacts were identified during works to clean and recut the South Delph and build a new pumping station at Washingborough Fen. A peat deposit was recorded, from which late Bronze Age and early Iron Age artefacts were recovered, leading to the suggestion that there was a prehistoric fording point of the River Witham in this vicinity. {1}
