Description
A single trial trench was excavated within the nave of the 19th century St Catherine's Church, in advance of proposed renovation works. Several phases of medieval building and demolition activity were encountered, clearly associated with the former Gilbertine priory of St Catherine. The most significant remains included a 14th century layer with a stone-lined culvert and a ceramic water pipe. {1}{2}
