Description

A watching brief was carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of an extension to the rear of the existing building. No archaeological features or finds were encountered although it was suggested that a layer containing many limestone fragments may represent up-cast material from the medieval Newport ditch, although it may alternatively have originated during 18th century quarrying. {1}{2}
