Four trial trenches were excavated in advance of residential development. The trenches were positioned to evaluate the results of a previous geophysical survey (ELI411) although there was some difficulty in establishing the exact location of the anomalies. The trenches did not confirm the survey results, but they did uncover features associated with clay extraction for pottery making as well as a large quantity of medieval pottery. {1}{2}
