Description

The remains of a re-used Roman well and well head were discovered during the programme of excavations in the 1970s. However, they were not fully investigated until 1984 when an excavation of the well shaft was carried out prior to the area being landscaped and turned into a garden (the upstanding remains of the well head were kept as a feature of the garden). The full extent of the well shaft was not completely explored due to health and safety issues. {1}{2}
