Description

An excavation was undertaken to recover the remains of an Avro Lancaster aircraft, that crashed on the 30th of March 1945, on land to the north-west of Swayfield. Many small, fragmentary and corroded parts of the aircraft were found, although various recognisable fragments were also located, including a propeller blade, the upper gun turret and remains of items from the instrument panel. {1}
