Description
Four trial trenches were excavated to inform proposed residential development on land off Chapel Lane, Northorpe. Evidence of significant medieval settlement activity was recorded, including extensive earthworks remains and several former stone walls, thought to represent parts of former structures and wells. An assemblage of medieval pottery, hone stones and animal bone was recovered from the site, along with three residual sherds of late Saxon pottery. {1}{2}
