Description

An archaeological surface collection survey (systematic fieldwalking) was carried out along the proposed route of the A158 Burgh-le-Marsh bypass; a total length of approximately 4.5km.The route was systematically fieldwalked by a team of four archaeologists over a period of two days. Transects were at 10m intervals, 5m and 15m either side of a centre base line. Some parts of the route were unsuitable for fieldwalking, particularly in the eastern sector, where pasture and woodland obscured the ground surface {1} {2}
