Description

Archaeological excavations located in the eastern half of the lower town on the site of 16-30 Grantham Street. An area of some 40m east to west by 20m north to south was excavated. The first two seasons concentrated on the excavation of medieval and post-medieval buildings. It was not until 1974 that early medieval timber buildings were examined. During the final season Roman levels were also examined {1}
