Description
Archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) was undertaken to inform the planning process in respect of a proposed extension to Gainsborough Guildhall. The evaluation entailed the excavation and recording of a single 16m long by 1.6m wide trench. Medieval remains were encountered, although these had been substantially reduced by the effects of late post-medieval cellar digging. {1}{2}
