Description

A fieldwalking survey was carried out on circa 9.5ha of land, in order to assist in determining the impact of any development on buried archaeological remains. Transects were spaced at 20m intervals and the fields varied in condition between good visibility and poor. Field 1 was uncropped and weedy with poor visibility. Field 2 was uncropped and weedy with poor visibility; a 10m east/west strip along the southern boundary was not visible. Field 3 was a well weathered ploughed surface with no crop and occasional low weeds, with good conditions; a 10m east/west strip along the northern boundary was not visible. Field 4 was rough pasture and areas of hardstanding and the land surface was not visible; this field was not walked.{1}
