Trial trenching was carried out on an area of land circa 520m squared prior to proposed residential development, in order to identify any archaeological deposits, especially those related to the development of the town. Trench 1 measured circa 10m by 1.6m and was placed adjacent to the street frontage; Trench 2 measured circa 12m by 1.6m and was placed centrally within the footprint of the proposed residential block.{1}
