Description

Prior to proposed extension of the quarry, an area of circa 15ha was fieldwalked in 10m transects, giving 10% coverage of the site. A small area to the south-east of the proposed quarry extension and adjacent to the farm track was also walked. Although outside the survey area, it proved easier to lay out fieldwalking lines using the track as a baseline than to survey in the actual proposed extent of the quarry. Conditions for fieldwalking were not ideal, as the site had been only partially harrowed. Visibility may have also been affected by bright sunshine and a strong wind.{1}
